Himalayan Dog Chew Recall

Himalayan Corporation of Mukilteo, WA, has issued a recall of certain lots of Ruff Roots All-Natural Dog Chews (sold by PetSmart) due to the possibility of metal contamination.

Affected Products:

* Himalayan Ruff Roots All Natural 5" Stump Dog Chew Toy; UPC # - 85301200440; Lot # - All

* Himalayan Ruff Roots All Natural 7" Stalk Dog Chew Toy: UPC # - 85301200441; Lot # - All



PetSmart is asking consumers to stop using any affected product immediately and bring it to your closest PetSmart store for a full refund.

OC Raw Dog Recall

OC Raw Dog of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA is voluntarily recalling 2055 lbs. of Turkey & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Affected Products Include:

Turkey & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulations that were packaged into 6.5 lb. Doggie Dozen Patties and 5 lb. Bulk Bags with the lot number 1511 and use by date of 10/8/15.

This recall is a result of a routine sampling program by the Nebraska Department of Food and Agriculture which revealed a presumptive positive to Salmonella.

If you are in possession of this recalled product, the company is requesting that you submit a picture of the package with the lot number to Olivia@ocrawdog.com for verification of product in the marketplace.

The company is also requesting that customers return the product to the retailer where you purchased for a full refund or replacement product.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause severe gastrointestinal disease. It can also affect other organ systems as well. Typical signs associated with Salmonella in pets include but are not limited to: vomiting, diarrhea, diarrhea with blood, lethargy, depression, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, fever, and abdominal pain.

Animals that don't show clinical signs can also be carriers of Salmonella and pass it to other pets and humans. If your pet has any signs or has ingested the product mentioned above, please contact your veterinarian.

Salmonella can also affect humans and there is a risk if you or someone you know has come in contact with pet food, treats or supplements contaminated with Salmonella, this includes dry products. The elderly, children and immunocompromised individuals are most at risk.

To reduce risk of infection, people should wash their hands with hot soapy water after touching pet foods and surfaces pet foods have come in contact with. The clinical signs are similar as in pets. If you or anyone you know is showing signs of illness after coming in contact with this product, contact your health care provider.
