Blue Buffalo Recall

Blue Buffalo has issued a voluntary recall of the following products:


*4.5 lb., 11 lb., and 24lb bags of BLUE Wilderness Chicken (Dog) with Best Used by Dates of JUL1211B, JUL1311B, JUL2611Z, JUL2711Z, and JUL2811Z


*11 lb. and 24 lb. bags of BLUE Basics Salmon (Dog) with Best Used by Dates of AUG2111B and AUG2211B


*30 lb. bags of BLUE Large Breed Adult Chicken with Best Used by Dates of SEP 22 11 P, SEP 23 11 P, and OCT 26 11 P


These bags have the potential to contain higher levels of Vitamin D than required.

Hypervitaminosis D, also known as vitamin D toxicity, causes calcium loss in bone which in turn leads to abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood stream.

This can lead to calcification of organs including the kidneys and heart.

Symptoms include:
  • increased water consumption
  • increased urine production
  • lethargy
  • lack of appetite
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • pain in the area of the kidneys
  • bone pain or limping

If your pet is showing any signs or has ingested food from the bags mentioned above, please contact your veterinarian.

If you have products with the codes above, stop feeding it immediately and call Blue Buffalo at 1-877-523-9114 to arrange for product return and reimbursement.

If you have incurred any medical expenses related to the use of the products mentioned above, Blue Buffalo will reimburse any veterinary or testing expenses related to illness caused by these products.
